Infant baptism, considered in a letter, 1773 : shewing, from the Scriptures, that the infants of believers are holy, Rom. xi. 16. I Cor. vii. 14. And the subjects of promises and blessings not belonging to the seed of unbelievers, because limited to those who are of the faith of Abraham, that believers in the messiah, and to their seed. Acts ii. 39. Rom. iv. 16. Gal. iii. 7, 14, 16, 26, 29. Gen. XVII. 7. Which blessings descended upon the infant children of the good converts at Pentecost: and upon all the infants of the housholds , baptized by the apostles: that personal faith is no more necessary in infants, for their baptism, than for their circumcision: and that to repel infants, or little children, from the initiatory seal of baptism, is to shut out those from the visible church, concerning whom Christ has said, "Forbid them not,--for of such is the kingdom of heaven." Matt. XIX. 14.
