The universal Scots almanack : for the year of Our Lord M.DCC.LIV. Being the second after leap year. Shewing the days of the year, the days of the month, and days of the week; the rising and setting of the sun; the new moons, full moons and quarters; the rising or setting of the moon; the moon's age; the high water at Leith, both morning and evening; and the equation of time thoughout the year; the Church of England['s] holy days, &c. Birth days, &c. of the royal family, and time of gray day-light, both morning and evening; with other things proper for an almanack. Calculated in the first place to the meridian of Edinburgh, whose latitude is 55 degrees, 56 minutes north; with a table, and directions to fit it to other places in Scotland. By John Chapman, who calculated the Edinburgh almanack for the eight preceeding years. Altho' the sun and moon be no less than six times eclipsed this year so some parts of the earth, yet none of these eclipses will be visible to us. The sun will be eclipsed on March 23d, visible at Jamaica; and the moon will be twice totally eclipsed, visible in America, on April the 7th, and October the first. The sun will be twice eclipsed to those on the coast of Guiney, on April the 22d, and September the 16th. And lastly, he will be eclipsed on October the 16th, visible in China.
