Dear sir, the anonymous printed letter you inclosed to me the 6th instant, and which I have since read, chiefly consists of picked sentences from my reports upon the bedford Levels, written in the years 1775 and 1777; and they are very improperly quoted, as sentences ought to have been accompanied by all the leading, and also by the concluding parts, without which they do not convey my ideas properly...
