- Notes:
- One of several editions published by Harper & Brothers. This one, which has no date on t.p., was probably printed after the 1898 ed. and no later than 1910, based on an inscription dated "Christmas 1910" in the Penn Libraries copy. The t.p. verso has the copyright date 1896 and advertisements for the "Uniform edition of Mark Twain's works." There is no final leaf of advertisements. The "Map of the trip made by Tom Sawyer erronott, 1850" is printed on the seventh leaf of gathering 7, but is not included in the pagination sequence. In the 1898 edition, this illustration was printed on a plate inserted after p. 108. Gathering 12 is complete in 8 leaves and the half-title after p. 190 for "The stolen white elephant" is printed on the first leaf of gathering 13.
