"The plotline is motivated by the formation of a Boy Scout-like organization, formed by members of the American Legion. Billy and Davy would like to join the group, but thir father Charles won't let them. It turns out that Charles was dishonorably discharged from the Army, and hopes to keep this information a secret. Redeeming himself by capturing a dangerous criminal, Charles finally permits his boys to join the Sons of the Legion, secure in the knowledge that his past sins have been forgiven."--Container.
