John Laurence (1668-1732): the man and his books," Huntia 2 (1965), p. 133-135. Probably 1 of 2 editions of this composite work issued in Dublin by George Grierson, the first in 1718 (with engraved frontispiece) under title: "New improvements of planting and gardening, both practical and philosophical ..." (cf. Gilmour no. 8, ESTC N50674, and B. Henrey, Brit. botanical lit., 941 (note)) and the second in 1719 (without frontispiece) under title: "Gardening improv'd ..." (cf. Gilmour no. 9, ESTC T185036, and B. Henrey, Brit. botanical lit., 941). The 1719 edition is a re-issue of the sheets of the 1718 edition, including its 6 engraved illustrative plates, with a new title leaf.
