Summary:

This survey solicited opinions on a wide variety of political and social issues. Respondents were asked to rate Reagan's performance as president, to give their preference for various methods of reducing the federal deficit, to identify specific government programs to be cut or increased, and to prioritize tax reform goals. They were also questioned about which candidates they would support in the presidential primaries, what the role of the federal government should be, and whether or not the space shuttle program should continue (following the space shuttle disaster). Additional topics included forced busing for racial integration, abortion, pornography and censorship, the Soviet Union and arms control, day care, and the women's movement. Demographic characteristics were also recorded.
