Summary:
This special topic poll solicited responses from Virginia residents of Prince William County, the city of Manassas, and Manassas Park on a range of community and quality of life issues specific to their locale. Respondents were asked to rate their community and to comment on past, current, and future trends in their quality of life, the most important problem facing area residents, and whether they would still live there if the cost of living were higher. Those queried were asked to assess the treatment by government officials of residents of the east and west sides of the area, city services, the education system, cultural opportunities, entertainment, and retail stores in the Prince William County area. Respondents were also asked for their opinion on problems facing the area's school district, including overcrowding, gang violence, illegal drugs, low teacher salaries, unqualified teachers, and poor school facilities. Other topics covered the growth rate of Prince William County, whether limits should be placed on new construction and developers, and whether residents would be willing to sacrifice some city services so that more money might go to the schools. Background information on respondents includes age, race, sex, education, political party, marital status, age of children in household, family income, length of residence in the Prince William County area, and location of their prior residence....
