Summary:

This dataset contains a listing of all local agencies providing free public elementary and secondary schools in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and outlying areas (American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and the Marshall Islands) in fall 1975. Researchers can use the collection to draw statistically valid samples from which state or national estimates can be made. The file also provides a mailing list of school systems. Variables include name, address, county, district, and grade span of the school, size of the school system, number of schools in the system, and SMSA (Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area) designation.
