- This data collection contains information on the voting patterns of the 556 deputies and alternates of the Prussian National Assembly of 1848. Variables provide information on the subject matter of the roll call votes in the Assembly, such as the establishment of a constitutional committee, the promulgation of the constitution, the abolition or the retention of the death penalty with or without provisos, the appointment by the king of all officers and colonels in the civic guard, the resignation of reactionary officers, the increase in taxes on unrefined beet sugar, contractual arrangements, the law concerning the hunting rights of the nobility, rights of tenants and landlords, special guarantees to Polish residents, abolition of the nobility with its titles and designations, and military aid to Vienna by the Prussian government. Demographic variables provide information on the National Assembly members, such as their occupation, membership status in the Assembly, electoral district, party membership, election date, previous service, and committee assignments.
