- Summary:
- In the early 1950s, Eli Avivi, a veteran of the War of Independence, sought solitude in an abandoned Arab seacoast village near the Lebanon border. Over the years his refuge has become a museum of antiquities, a resort for Bohemians, and in the 1970s, an independent country! Not only his edenic republic, but also Avivi himself has evolved over the years, and this film examines the social, historical, economic and political fallout of his actions. Is he a genius, an eccentric, or something more complicated?
