- Summary:
- "Hawkins, a professional assassin, is reactivated to do away with Sir Gregory Upshott, a politician. Hawkins tracks his quarry to a decrepit seaside resort called The Green Man and here waits to spring his trap. Hawkins is disguised as a simple clockmaker. He has planted a bomb to be exploded just when Sir Gregory arrives, but the victim does not appear. Vacuum salesman William Blake, a bumbler of the first rank, stumbles upon the plot and conducts a wild search for the killer at the inn, never for a moment suspecting the meek-mannered Hawkins. At the last minute he unearths the bomb and, seconds before it explodes, throws it out of a window and literally undoes Hawkins."--The motion picture guide, v. 3, p. 1111.
