Each book has engraved divisional t.p. with vignette illustration after Richard Westall (variously engraved) and imprint: Published by John Sharpe, Piccadilly. Aug. 24, 1816. Each plate is accompanied by a tissue guard. Cf. Wickenheiser.

Kislak Center PR3560 1817 imperfect: half-title leaves wanting; tissue guards for engraved title leaves wanting; tissue guards for engraved divisional title leaves of books 4, 7, 9-10, and 12 wanting. Presented to the Penn Libraries by Joseph A. Wittreich in honor of Stuart A. Curran. Volume 1 has autograph ("W.O. Hunt Esqre Stratford on Avon") on front free endpaper. Volume 2 has manuscript inscription in pencil ("CBH from Aunt H") on first blank leaf at beginning of volume. Each volume bound in full calf with blind-tooled boards; spine tooled in gold and blind and lettered (title and volume number) in gold; blind-tooled cover edges and turn-ins; all edges stippled red.

Presented to the Penn Libraries by Joseph A. Wittreich in honor of Stuart A. Curran. Each volume has armorial bookplate of G.L. Forrest on front pastedown; bookplate of Mary Esther Bamburgh (later Proctor; 1894-1927) pasted over bookplate of William Cushing Bamburgh (1867-1927) on front free endpaper; autograph ("W.C. Bamburgh 1886") on first blank leaf at beginning of each volume. Voume 1 has bookseller's manuscript notes in pencil on first blank leaf of volume; head outer corner of added engraved title leaf torn off.
