- Summary:
- Canadian surgeon Norman Bethune arrived in China in 1938, during which time Japan invaded and occupied northern China. Dr. Bethune found the Chinese Resistance and area peasants in dire need of medical assistance. Leading a medical team with poorly trained personnel and lacking in supplies and equipment, Dr. Methune helped the needy Chinese people and eventually joined the Chinese troops as an army surgeon.
