Summary:
In Where We Live Now, John Iceland explores the ways in which immigration is reshaping American neighborhoods. In this clear and well-focused study of residential segregation patterns, Iceland examines how immigrants are assimilating residentially, whether assimilation is different for immigrants of different racial and ethnic backgrounds, and how immigration has affected the residential patterns of native-born blacks and whites. Iceland's finding suggest a blurring of the American color line in the coming years and indicate that as we become more diverse, we may, in some important respects, become less segregated.
