Biography/History:

Carlo della Torre Rezzonico (b. Mar. 7, 1693; d. Feb. 2, 1769) was appointed Bishop of Padua on 11 Mar. 1743 and subsequently elected pope, taking the name Clement XIII, on 6 Jul. 1758.

Summary:

Collection of printed and ms. pastoral letters and documents in Italian or Latin issued by or under Carlo della Torre Rezzonico during his tenure as Bishop of Padua. The printed documents are mostly arranged chronologically (except for the blank forms and undated document at the beginning of the volume); most are broadsides. Most were printed by Conzatti of Padua and have woodcut vignettes of the episcopal arms in red and black and woodcut initials. The ms. documents, interspersed throughout the collection, appear to be transcriptions. The entire collection is bound together (most of the printed documents folded) in a vol. measuring 32 cm. in height.
