Summary:
This OECD report on improving the job performance among UK youths in the labor market is derived from a seminar that explored how the development of a highly skilled workforce may also exclude these individuals and raise the unemployment rates. Written for policymakers within OECD member countries, this report focuses on the transition from school to work and how recent reforms have tried to address retention rates in post-compulsory education and training, increasing the effectiveness of the "14-19 Strategy," improving the activation strategies for disadvantaged youth and offering incentives to employers for hiring these workers. While the original report and seminar were offered only in English, a French translation of the proceedings is also included. Annotation ©2009 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
