- International intervention in post-conflict economies can exacerbate the challenges of transformation. The contributors to Whose Peace? Critical Perspectives on the Political Economy of Peacebuilding are experts on key issues that tend to be neglected in the approaches to peacebuilding. This collection reaches beyond the technical approaches of international financial institutions and agencies of the liberal peace. It examines peace end-games, gender, trade, diasporas, borderlands, employment and global governance. Each issue is addressed at three levels: (1) a global analysis; (2) a generic theme and (3) a case study showing how specific factors influence local political economies. The authors ask whether a political economy of peace is being promoted by current approaches to peace-building and consider the specific policy changes or shifts in the architecture of global governance that are necessary to foster inclusive political economies based on local needs.
