A ledger of debtors and creditors of Carlo de Medici for the years 1573-1580. Includes accounts of debts and credits for individuals and institutions such as churches and farms.

Pagination: Paper, i (paper) + 208 + i (paper); versos numbered 1-207, [i], in contemporary ink, upper left verso; rectos numbered [i], i, 2, iii-lxi, 62-63, lxiiii-ccvii, in contemporary ink, upper right recto. Each opening has a matched arabic numeral on the left and roman numeral on the right.
Layout: Written in 3 informal columns, a small one on the left which sometimes has the year of the credits and debts, a larger one on the center with a brief description of the credit or the debit and another small one on the right with the amount of the debit or credit in arabic numerals. Usually credits are listed on the left page and debts are listed on the right page of an opening, with the same individuals appearing as debtors and creditors on facing pages in some cases.
Script: Written in a cursive script.
Watermark: Similar to Briquet, Homme 7573 ( Milan, 1590), but with a more triangular body.
Binding: Contemporary vellum, no. 38 on spine, no. 9 and letter A with decorative penwork on upper cover; lower cover wraps around upper cover with leather ties; decorative leatherwork on spine.
Origin: Written in Italy , ca. 1580 (date of latest entries, p. 175).
