- Summary:
- Nanoporous materials can be found in nature and traditionally they have been widely applied in the chemical process industry as heterogeneous catalysts, adsorbents and ion exchangers. Recent developments in the area enable design of nanoporous materials with specific properties and have expanded their usefulness giving rise to a wide variety of new applications in chemistry, physics, materials science, environmental science, energy, etc.
- Surface, bulk and structural properties of nanoporous materials are at the center of current research efforts aiming at new catalysts, adsorbents, sensors, thin films for membrane and electronic applications, drug delivery and other functional nanostructures. In order to facilitate transfer of the latest knowledge in these areas, this book brings together authors who are leading experts in their respective fields. They review the latest developments and prospects in the area of ordered porous solids, including synthetic layered materials (clays), microporous zeolitetype materials, ordered mesoporous solids, metal-organic-framework compounds (MOFs), carbon, etc. All aspects of ordered porous materials, from their synthesis to their comprehensive characterization and advanced applications are considered.
- This book will be useful to scientists in both industry and academia as well as graduate students in a wide variety of disciplines including chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science and physics.
