Summary:
Unsigned and unsealed copy of an edict, dated Vienna, 24 March 1668, issued by the government of Lower Austria (nider österreichischen Regirung), at that time ruled by the Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I, reemphasizing the government's policy requiring the timely appearance in court of all parties (or their lawyers or representatives) who have legal proceedings scheduled, or, in the case of an unavoidable conflict, the timely submission of a request to be excused, preferably at least three days in advance, or as soon as possible before the proceeding. Henceforth those who are late or who fail to appear without having made the required efforts to notify the court, will be fined 1 Reichsthaler. The same policy will be applied also to parties from outside of Lower Austria. Handwritten label on verso.
