- Summary:
- This volume reports on the socio-economic characteristics of immigrant populations in all OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) countries except Iceland. Tables, charts, and overviews outline statistics on age, gender, and duration of stay; labor market status, occupation, and sector of activity; and education level, fields of study, and country of birth. Specific issues are also briefly examined, such as the gender dimension of the brain drain, the international migration of health professionals, and the role of low-skilled foreign-born workers in domestic services. Data is drawn from the new OECD Database on Immigrants in OECD Countries, which assembles information from recent censuses, population registers, and labor force surveys. The book is aimed at policy makers and migration researchers. There is no index. The introduction is in both French and English. Annotation ©2008 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
