"Registrum" on recto of leaf f6 lists 3 separate registers, suggesting that this work was issued as a third part in a work with 2 other sections or titles The "Index librorum prohibitorum" was issued numerous times in the 17th century, sometimes separately, but often appended to other titles.

Local Notes:
Lea Library copy has Henry Charles Lea's autograph dated 1888 and inscription on front free endpaper which reads: This is a simple reprint of the 1596 index of Clement VIII. This edition is not in Reusch, Der Index etc. II, 23.
Lea Library copy may be incomplete as it does not include the 2 other parts called for in the "Registrum", "Index" may have been intended to stand on its own as it bears individual dated title page and has separate pagination and register.
