Biography/History:

Actor, playwright and manager of the Wallack Theatre Company. The son of the actor-manager James William Wallack, Lester (born John Johnstone Wallack) made his New York acting debut in 1847. Lester succeeded his father as manager of the Wallack Theatre in 1861. He opened a new Wallack Theatre in 1882, and managed both playhouses until his retirement five years later.
