Summary:
A small collection of papers and letters that was in the possession of Victor Hollier, commissary of the directoire and juge de paix in Fanjeaux, in the Carcassonne region in southwestern France. The collection was originally laid in a bound manuscript containing copies of Hollier's outgoing correspondence (Ms. Codex 1204). In most cases, the items appear to be copies of official documents and reports concerned with the administration of Fanjeaux during the revolution. The correspondence mainly contains letters addressed to Hollier and includes several sets of inventories and of police ordinances. There is also a deposition by Hollier (Folder 10) and an undated list of deserters, presumably from the Napoleonic wars (Folder 14). Among the other mostly single-leaf items there is a notebook containing copies of letters written by the custodian of fodder, from the town of Bages in southern France, concerned with the distribution of provisions to the cavalry (Folder 2). One letter contains the complaints of a military veteran petitioning for better treatment of the Knights of Malta.
