"The events of futurity are the arcana of Heaven. ... In the death of the three persons, which occasioned the publication of the preceding sermons, we have reiterated instances of the uncertainty of human life ... Before the completion of the publication of the first sermon, the author was requested to attend the funeral of another child of the Hon. Nahum Parker. A copy of the sermon on that occasion was requested for publication. While these sermons were in the press, Doct. Lane died. A copy of the sermon delivered at his funeral, was requested, to be added to the other two, and to appear from the press in one book."--Advertisement, p. [4] of cover, signed: Clark Brown.
