Concerning the controversy, which divided the congregation into supporters and opponents of Rev. Timothy Clowes, stemming from his charges that he had been denied income from church property reserved for the use of the rector.
"At a meeting of the congregation of Saint Peter's Church in the city of Albany, convened ... on the 27th of February 1816 ... The following resolutions ... were adopted: Whereas a pamphlet ... has been addressed to the members of this congregation--and whereas an answer to the same has been prepared and submitted to this meeting: and whereas the said answer meets with the approbation of this meeting--Resolved, that the same be published ... James Gibbons, chairman. William Brown, sec'y."--p. 100.
