Notes:
Signed on p. 4: Greenwich November 2d 1818. (Signed) Isaac Haring, Andrew Van Buskirk, Henry Wanmaker.
Includes "a true copy from the original report" signed by P.H. Wendover and four others, "Greenwich, July 3d, 1809," and a variety of intervening documentation relating to the controversy between Rowan and the church which developed in 1809 when he used one of his sermons to suggest that he should be given a raise in salary.
In his Review of the Reply to his sermon (Shaw & Shoemaker 49326), Rowan charges that the Reply was written, not by a committee of consistory, but by "the Honourable Peter H. Wendover, member of Congress ... and formerly an elder in the Dutch Church as Greenwich."
