"The Observer will be issued weekly, on Saturday afternoon. ... The price will be three dollars yearly. It shall commence as soon as a sufficient number of subscribers are obtained. Holders of subscription papers are requested to return them by the first of July. Salem, (Mass.) April, 1818." Apparently an insufficient number of subscriptions were received to encourage publication.
