"Cumberland [Me.], s.s. Falmouth, June 28, 1774. The above named John Bracket, surveyor, made oath, that he hath drawn and delineated this plan ... which plan was accepted by the General Assembly of said state [Massachusetts] on the 16th of June, 1780. Attest, John Avery, dep. sec'ry. I certify that the above is a copy of the plan of the town of Baldwin lodged in the land office. William Smith, agent for eastern lands. February 9, 1814. ..."--leaf [2].

"The inhabitants and owners of land in the town of Baldwin, in the county of Cumberland, having been called for the third time, within three years, by an order of notice on the petition of Seth Spring, and others, to shew cause at the present session of the legislature why inquest of office should not be instituted against them, for the purpose of taking from them for the benefit of said Seth Spring, and others, who claim it, land which they have held under a grant from government upwards of 40 years, have obtained from the records in the Secretary's Office, certified copies of the plan, and resolves relating to the grant and confirmation of said township, and have had the same printed, which are hereunto annexed, in order that the facts may be more fully communicated ... to the members of the General Court.
