Notes:
The calculations in the columns of the calendar pages are in part identical with, and in part vary slightly from, those in Houghton's genuine almanac for 1813, ("astronomical part by Asa Houghton") (Shaw & Shoemaker 25689). As is the case with previous issues in the Thomas series compared with Houghton's, the variations give the impression of being adjustments by the same calculator rather than the separate work of another. The predictions of eclipses and other "curious' astronomical phenomena, at the front of the present issues of Thomas's and Houghton's, likewise appear to be by the same hand (the Thomas version being abbreviated).
The 1813 Thomas almanac appears to be the joint work of Asa Houghton and Gilbert Graves. Copies of letters by Graves, accompanied by photostats of letters by Isaiah Thomas to or concerning Graves, are in the American Antiquarian Society's manuscript collection. These indicate that Graves calculated Isaiah Thomas Junior's town & country almanacs for 1813, 1814, and 1815, the 1813 issue in collaboration with Asa Houghton.
