This is the shorter version of The Clergyman's almanack for 1818 (Shaw & Shoemaker 40491), which was advertised in the Independent chronicle & Boston patriot (daily edition) for Oct. 7, 1817. Advertisements for The Clergyman's almanac for most other years specify a larger and a smaller size at $9.00 and $4.50 a gross respectively. The latter price appears at the foot of the present title page. The Clergyman's minor almanack was never advertised separately. It was initiated in 1811 as an alternative to the larger version, as indicated by the editor in his preface for that and the following year.
One of two variant printings. In the present issue the "Editor's address" on p. [3-4] is in large type, and occupies the whole of p. [4]. In the advertisement on p. [24], the name "Parmenter and Norton" is written with the word 'and.' The calculations on the calendar pages are identical with those in The Clergyman's almanack for 1818.
Parentheses substituted for square brackets in imprint transcription.
