As it contains matter worthy of being preserved, the publisher has made a selection ... hoping it will be acceptable to the children of the present day ..."--verso of title page. Two states noted. In one, presumably the earlier state, the first line of the second stanza and the second line of the fourth stanza on p. 3 read: So in my end I may rejoice [and] And I go hence to be no more; p. 4 has: The cat doth play aud [sic] after slay; and the first line of the third stanza reads: If thou some longer time should'st have. In the other, corrected, state these lines read: So in my end I shall rejoice; And I go hence and be no more; The cat doth play and after slay; and If thou some longer time should'st live. The printers' ornament below the caption title and those at the head on p. 29 vary.
