Notes:
An answer, dated Boston, Jan. 20, 1812, to John C. Warren's A letter addressed to a Republican member of the House of Representatives (Boston, 1812). Warren's subsequent Reply to a pamphlet purporting to be An answer to a letter ... (Boston, 1812) is addressed on p. [3], "To the three principal advocates of the petition for a College of Physicians, authors of the said Answer." The principal author was probably Benjamin Waterhouse, whose support for a Massachusetts College of Physicians, as well as his previously published writings against Doctors John Warren and John C. Warren, led to his dismissal from the faculty of Harvard Medical School. Cf. Harrington, Thomas F. The Harvard Medical School, 1905, p. 379-390.
