- The illustrations in the text consist of five full-page wood engravings, engraved by Mason after Woodside, of American naval engagements during the War of 1812.
- Drake makes two entries for this title, indicating that the NHi copy (entry 11074) has "Market steeet" in the imprint, and suggesting that copies at PHi and PPL (entry 11073) have 'street' spelled correctly. Shaw & Shoemaker also make separate entries for the PHi copy (S&S 51458) and the NHi copy (S&S 51459), but confuse matters by noting, in the latter entry, "Imprint error: 'Market street.'" In fact, all recorded copies read "Market steeet."
