Notes:
The only known copy, held by the American Antiquarian Society and formerly owned by John Spargo, lacks all pages before p. 3 and any pages following p. 20.
This is part of the item first recorded by Spargo as entry 185 in his "Anthony Haswell, printer, patriot, ballader" (1925), and subsequently recorded by Shaw & Shoemaker (entry 17722) and by McCorison (entry 1080). Bound before p. 3 are pages [5-10] of "Gen. Stark's letter to the Republicans of Bennington, and it's [sic] vicinity. Together with a few Republican songs, written for the celebration of the sixteenth of August, 1809, in Bennington. By A. Haswell. (Bennington, Vt. : Anthony Haswell, 1809)." Page [5] of that work (the first page of the fragment found here) has caption title "Republican songs, written for the celebration of the 16th of August, 1809, in Bennington. By A. Haswell." Spargo never saw a compete copy of "Gen. Stark's letter," and mistook the two fragments for a single work issued under that caption title.
