Notes:
The sermon and oration each have separate title page and pagination. Gatherings are signed continuously. Everett's oration was also issued separately (32 p., a half-title having been added and the pages renumbered).
Much bibliographical confusion has arisen from this publication. Shaw & Shoemaker entry 4174 is apparently a ghost, calling for a 32 page 1803 printing of Everett's oration. Shaw & Shoemaker entry 5828, based upon an imperfect copy at the American Antiquarian Society, calls for an 18 p. edition of Beedé's sermon only. Shaw & Shoemaker entry 6268 records the separate 32 p. issue of Everett's oration. Shaw & Shoemaker make no entry describing the two works issued together.
Walgren entry 796 describes the sermon and oration as issued together. The description is based on the title page to Beedé's sermon rather than on the collective title page, which Walgren characterizes as a half-title. Walgren entry 803 describes Everett's oration as issued with Beedé's sermon, but mistakenly calls for the half-title found in the separate issue only.
"A sermon, preached at Washington, New-Hampshire, September 28, 1803, on occasion of the consecration of Mount-Vernon Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons. By Brother Thomas Beede, pastor of the church in Wilton."--p. [3]-18, 1st count, with separate title page. Imprint reads "Amherst, N.H. Printed by Joseph Cushing. 1804."
"An oration, in vindication of Free Masonry, from the aspersions of Barruel and others; delivered at Washington, N.H. at the installation of Mount-Vernon Lodge, September 28, A.L. 5803. By Brother David Everett."--30 p., 2nd count, with separate title page. Imprint reads "Joseph Cushing, printer, Amherst, N.H. March, 1804."
