The extracts are from "Mr. Pitt's speech on the Union of Ireland with England," June 31, 1799, "the speech of William Pitt, the elder ... in which the right of taxing America is discussed," Jan. 16, 1766, "Mr. Grattan's speech on the intercourse with Ireland and England," Aug. 15, 1785, "Mr. Fox's speech on the state of the nation," March 24, 1795, "a speech of the Duke of Bedford ... on a motion ... for the removal of ministers in 1798," and "Mr. Fox's speech ... relative to a negociation for peace," Feb. 3, 1800.
The subjoined remarks, "The people of Vermont, are requested, (after reading the following statements) to compare the preceding extracts with the books of the Olive Branch, and extracts of Allen's History of Vermont, in a pamphlet, addressed to the freemen of said state, in August, 1808," and "To the people contiguous to Lake Champlain," are both signed by Ira Allen, the former dated "Philadelphia, April 12th, 1809" and the latter "Philadelphia, June 1st, 1809."
