Issued in cobalt blue coated paper wrappers printed in gold.
Consists of outline pictures (lithographs), showing every house and commercial establishment on the North and South sides of Chestnut Street, from 2nd Street to 10th Street, accompanied by advertisements for the businesses in these locations. Taller buildings are shown in complete elevation on folding plates. Not all merchants subscribed which left some buildings unidentified. This is the first visual directory of an American city and it ushered in a new trend in display advertising.
Outline pictures, showing every building on each side of Chestnut Street, from 2nd to 10th Streets, accompanied by advertisements for the businesses in these locations.

Penn Libraries copy bound in contemporary blue boards printed with advertisements; advertisements affixed to front and back pastedowns; front cover dated 1852.
Penn Libraries copy: many leaves, including title leaf, reinforced at outer margins; a few leaves bound in upside-down; some plates have ms. pencil captions of unidentified buildings; some plates have additional identifying labels pasted to buildings.
