The Pennsylvania note (dated 1779) is likewise for twenty-four dollars, and is written out to Andrew Bowsman and signed by Hillegas and Thomas Smith (Pennsylvania commissioner). There are two Massachusetts notes: one (undated) is for thirty dollars, and is written out to Thomas Branch. Both these notes are signed by Nathaniel Appleton (Massachusetts commissioner) and Francis Hopkinson (Continental Congress Treasurer of Loans). The Connecticut note (dated 1782) is for twelve dollars, and is written out to Simon Cotton (possibly Simon Cotton, 1739-1819, Connecticut deacon) and signed by Hillegas and William Imlay (Connecticut commissioner).
