- August, Elector of Saxony, made significant contributions to the Dresden court's coin cabinet (Münzkabinett), which was begun by Georg, Duke of Saxony (1471-1539). The collection is today part of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden (Dresden State Art Collections).
