Summary:
Herman becomes obsessed with the beautiful Lisa, who is engaged to Prince Yeletsky. He learns that Lisa's grandmother, the Countess, knows a gaming secret and uses Lisa's confidence to arrange a confrontation with this old woman. Herman frightens the Countess to death, and she later exacts a terrible revenge on him, returning as the Queen of Spades.
