- Biography/History:
- Kenyon Brooks was the son of American writer Van Wyck Brooks and Eleanor Stimson Brooks, brother of Charles Van Wyck Brooks. He graduated from the Loomis School in Windsor, Connecticut in 1933, at which time he entered Harvard, the school that both his brother Charles and father Van Wyck had attended. Kenyon had no particular career for some time afterwards, though he painted a little. In 1942 he became a midshipman in the naval reserves, and then, after living with his father for some time, entered the world of publishing in 1947, when he obtained a post at E. P. Dutton (which was his father's publisher). In 1948, he married Kappo Phelan, and continued to live in New York and Connecticut, working in publishing.
