Biography/History:
Kenyon Brooks was the son of American writer Van Wyck Brooks and Eleanor Stimson Brooks. He, like his father and brother, studied at Harvard, but Kenyon had no particular career for some time afterwards, though he painted a little. In 1942 he became a midshipman in the naval reserves, and then, after living with his father for some time, entered the world of publishing in 1947, when he obtained a post at E. P. Dutton (which was his father's publisher). In 1948, he married Kappo Phelan, and continued to live in New York and Connecticut, working in publishing.
Summary:
Correspondence ranges from several items from Kenyon's youth to the bulk of the collection, in his adult years. As Kenyon and his father usually lived near one another, the correspondence is mostly limited to vacations and periods when Van Wyck was abroad.
