"The first Boston edition, probably edited by David Francis, one of its printer-publishers ... It passed through two subsequent editions (see 1807 and 1810-1812). In the Lenox Library set of the third edition, at New York, is this interesting manuscript entry by D. Francis the publisher: 'In 1802 Munroe and Francis issued proposals for publishing an edition of [Shakespeare] in serial numbers, two plays to a volume, at fifty cents per number, complete in 16 numbers ...'"--Jaggard.
