Language Note:
Huastec and Spanish, with some words in Maya and Cakchikel.
Summary:
Dictionary of about 3,000 words of the Huastec language, copied by C. Hermann Berendt from Carlos de Tapia Zenteno's work on the Huastec language, published in Mexico in 1767. Berendt made a number of additions, including words from Maya in blue ink and Cakchikel in red ink for comparison. The dictionary is followed by grammatical notes and a partial copy of the Cathecismo y doctrina christiana en lengua huasteca from Tapia Zenteno's work.
