Summary:: Based on a traditional Egyptian folk tale, the film tells the story of a penniless troubadour singer (Ḥasan) who falls in love with the daughter (Naʻīmah) of a wealthy farmer (Mutawallī). Ḥasan asks Mutawallī to marry Naʻīmah, but is refused because he is a singer. So Naʻīmah escapes from her father to Ḥasan's house to marry him. Her father goes to Ḥasan's house to get her to return with him. He promises to accept Ḥasan's proposal, but after the return of his daughter. Later, Ḥasan goes to Mutawallī ready to marry naʻīmah, but is shocked when her father tells him that she is engaged to her cousin. In the end, everything is worked out and Ḥasan marries Naʻīmah.
