- Summary:
- Fulfilling Potential, Creating Success aims to foster increased interaction between policymakers and researchers from different disciplines in their ongoing efforts to improve Canada's policies for human capital development. A project of the Canadian Policy Research Networks (CPRN), the School of Policy Studies at Queen's University, and Statistics Canada, it brings together the most up-to-date findings from the disciplines of education, economics, psychology, sociology, politics, and health.
- The authors explore the impacts and interactions of policies regarding family, education, and public health over the life course since influences at early stages have implications for later human capital development. The volume emphasizes connections between the acquisition of human capital and both individual and societal outcomes, and the policy implications of these relationships. Personal and social benefits from the acquisition of skills and knowledge are explored; these include improved employment prospects, lower crime, improved health, greater participation in political activity, more engagement of citizens in their communities, and a more innovative economy.
