- Biography/History:
- Born in Armenia of Armenian and Greek descent. Gurdjieff was a mystic, philosopher, spiritual teacher, and composer who believed people lived in a state of hypnotic "waking sleep" because they do not possess a unified consciousness. His travels brought him to Russia, Georgia, France, and North America.
- Notes:
- First series of All and everything, originally published in English in 1950. Only 100 copies were printed of the 1931 edition, the stencils for which were destroyed, according to the September 1931 letter announcing its availability. The work was originally written in Russian and Armenian.
