This first published edition of his lectures on ethics reflects the theology of Albrecht Ritschl (1822-1889) at a time when he advanced to become the most significant Protestant theologian in Germany with his major work "Rechtfertigung und Versohnung" (Justification and Reconciliation) (1870 - 74). It demonstrates the impulses emanating from Ritschl's work which influenced and continue to influence systematic theology, church history and the 20th century ecumenical movement.
